American IconsSeptember 11, 2010So lets dedicate this one to Sonny and here is why. Not everything we build here at Bubbas East Coast Rods & Customs is a hot rod or has 500+ horsepower. This 1956 Nash is now owned by the daughter of a former... garage owner in Oakland, Ca. Oakland, as we all know is where the famed and cherished Sonny, founded the Oakland chapter of the Hells Angles motorcycle club. There was an automotive garage in Oakland named Christensen's Garage and as the story goes the owners father knew Sonny very well as Sonny lived just around the corner a half block down on the other side of the deli. As such Sonny would watch over Mr. Christensen's garage from time to time and Sonny knew this car quite well actually having wrenched on it himself a few times. Take a look at this little beauty with a huge history. She is a 1956 Nash Metropolitan. She is a joint effort between the United States and Britain. The Nash had the scaled down looks of the much larger American cars of the time but the small 1500cc 4 cylinder engine of the Austin. It is a timeless look that teases your eye today as much as it did many years ago. Keeping the historical and diplomatic doors open......that's what we call "Doin' It Bubba Style" Click here for more pictures |
